Mancino Sorci Verde hand winding watch from Terra Cielo Mare. The Mancino commemorates the Savoia Marchetti plane, S.M.79, which wrote history when it flew at 430kph and reached a cruising height of 7000m. The Mancino has a 47mm brushed 316L stainless steel case, which houses a TCM modified hand winding Swiss Unitas 6497 17 jewel movement, which is visible through a exhibition back, lazer engraved with the legendary Savoia Marchetti plane. The dial, which is protected by a convex "bulls eye" magnifying hardened mineral glass lens, has a minute track around the perimeter, large numerals coated with Super-LumiNova, small seconds dial with red "aeroplane" hand at 3 o'clock, and Super-LumiNova coated hour and second hands. Above 6 o'clock on the dial the legendary "sorci verdi" (literally "green mice") can be found, which were painted on the triple-engined Savoia Marchetti SM 79's of Italy's 12 Squadron to strike fear into their foes. They are applied to the dial using the intricate cloisonne technique. The movement has been turned through 180 degrees and the large deeply engraved crown is situated on the left-hand side of the case, which makes this model perfect for left-handers (Italian "mancino"). Despite this, you'll often find it being worn by right-handers in Italy. The Mancino Sorci Verde is water resistant to 50 metres, and comes fitted with a black leather strap with grey stitching, and has a Terra Cielo Mare polished stainless steel buckle. SOLD
